But what setting do I use???

If you’re new to vinyl or new to using Glitter Vinyl, you’ve probably searched for or asked this question! 

Having trouble cutting and weeding a particular vinyl? First and foremost, you need to make sure your blade isn’t blunt, and you’ve removed any sticky residue or vinyl scraps. The best way to do this is to scrunch up a ball of aluminium foil and stab the blade into it. 

Another handy hint is to make sure your vinyl is secu­rely stuck to your cutting mat. If the vinyl shifts during cutting, this will affect the end result. Make sure you clean your cutting mat regularly to remove any debris and keep it nice and sticky. 

Now that we’ve covered those steps, here are a few of my go-to settings when cutting thicker vinyl and achieving that perfect weed.

Find a setting that’s close, but not quite right?

If you try a setting that’s close but hasn’t quite cut through properly, there are a couple of other things you can do.

  1. Try again and select more pressure.

  2. Check your material settings.
    You can do this by selecting “Browse all materials” > “Material Settings”
    Check the cut pressure for the material you used, then look for something slightly higher. Alternatively, you can change the pressure by selecting “Edit” and increasing the pressure amount.

But don’t forget, each machine is different. Once you find the setting that works best for you, write it down!
